SC&RA Represented at Texas DOT OS/OW Workshop

-This week, the Texas DOT hosted the TxDOT Oversize-Overweight Workshop, an in-person and virtual summit to address OS/OW freight, challenges, and best practices throughout the state. Building upon previous conversations at February's Specialized Transportation Symposium in Houston, the forum addressed roadway design, permitting, and enforcement challenges in Texas, as well as ongoing OS/OW specific research on wind energy and permit-based planning trends from the Texas Transportation Institute. The workshop also featured a panel of industry experts, including Texas-based SC&RA Permit Policy Committee members Nick Wixom (Oxbo Mega Transport Solutions) and Maurice Martens (Frontier Heavy Haul & Support), Texas Trucking Association President John Esparza, and Chris Smith, SC&RA VP of Transportation, who each provided key state and regional industry feedback and recommendations.

The TxDOT Oversize-Overweight Workshop is one of the first public agency hosted forums dedicated exclusively to specialized transportation, crane, and rigging industry issues in a particular state. SC&RA thanks its partners and members in Texas for the opportunity to continue the positive dialogue to help the industry move forward together. For more information, contact Smith.
